Challenges and Opportunities in Home Networking
Summary:
Service providers worldwide are building business cases for rolling out new services such as IPTV and VoIP, all delivered via an integrated, networked digital home. While home networking has been a mainstay of early adopter broadband subscribers for years, the success of digital cameras and MP3 players, and an increase in multi-PC households, are finally providing a reason for mainstream consumer households to deploy home network solutions. This trend has major implications for service providers. What new costs does home networking impose? Does it create an opportunity to introduce new services?
This white paper provides an overview of the challenges introduced by home networking and discusses solutions that can help customers and service providers take advantage of the increasing digitization of the home.
